The artwork: an original illustration done by me featuring three Rafinesque’s Big-Eared Bats, a full moon, the species’ common name, and the species’ scientific name.
The shirt: a high quality 100% cotton pastel tie-dyed relaxed-fit tee from Shaka Wear. Please see the product images for the size chart. The fit is relaxed and very straight up and down. I recommend ordering your normal unisex tee size if you want to wear it untucked and sizing down if you want to crop it or wear it tucked in.
How the artwork gets on the shirt: I will screen print every shirt by hand using high quality water-based screen printing ink, the shirts will be heat set and ready for wash and wear. The ink color is black.
Care instructions: For the longevity of the screen print and the tie-dye, please wash your shirt inside out on cold. Tumble dry is fine, hang dry is top-notch.
The BAT: Rafinesque’s Big-Eared Bats (Corynorhinus rafinesquii) are a species of small bats with big ears that roost in tree hollows and abandoned buildings. They are native to the southeastern United States and are an important part of our local ecosystem helping with the management of agricultural pests. Habitat loss and degradation threaten this charismatic creature and conservation efforts are key!
The cause: 10% of all profits will go directly to conservation efforts via the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources who featured this species as this year’s Restore the Wild Artwork Competition spotlight species. I am honored to have won the Sticker Prize in this year’s competition!
